Sometimes we have to alter our plans a little to make our way forward. I agree with you 100% on the homeowner issue. Not only is owning your own home an important first step in accumulating wealth but you will find it just makes you feel good to have YOUR HOME (of course its actually the banks home for the first while...lol...but having those keys in your hand just feels good) Sounds like a good idea.
